    Halloween
So I'm actually dressing up this Halloween for the 1st time in a lot of years.  When the kids were growing up I dressed up every year with them.  So this is my baby brother is turning 50 and his wife is throwing a birthday/Halloween party for him and costumes are a must.  So have to make the decision, witch or vampire or maybe witchy vampire.  So I've finished the nails on my left hand - now for the hard part, doing the right hand.

Since my mother refuses to dress up for the party (nothing like taking your 77 year old mother to a Halloween party) we voted to dress up her dog.  Sassy is going as a slutty Catholic school girl.

So I guess it's time to finish up my nails, get a shower and start thinking about how to do my makeup.

    Pimping Yourself
So I sent my resume to my daughter and her boyfriend.  He's very good at pimping himself to get better jobs so I'm hoping he'll be able to brush up my resume so that I can start looking for a better job.  I'm very bad a pimping myself especially on paper.

I really hate leaving the place I've been with for almost 7 years but today I think the fact that I'm never going to be paid what I deserve nor am I ever really going to be appreciated there finally hit home.  They keep hiring for the AppDev department and paying those guys really nice, but can I get help or a raise?  Nope!  It's ok for me to help train them with how all the parts of their job fit into the puzzle of our business but I'm only worth 1/2 or less of what they get paid.  It's ok for them to call it a day after 8 hours and only work 7 days a week but I'm expected to put in 12 to 16 hours a day and work on weekends because it seems my number is the only phone number anyone at the call centers have.  So it's time to move on.  I make fifty cents more an hour than the people I'm supervising, what's up with that.

One of the developers who just left is bugging me for my resume so he can pass it on to his recruiter - who managed to get him a job with a $15,000 pay increase.  I'll be happy with a 5,000 to 10,000 increase.  And lord knows pretty much any where I go has got to have a better benefits package.

So I'm heading to bed and I hope to hear back from my daughter soon so that I can pass that resume on and get the job hunting started.

    Vacation is over
Vacation is over.  I'm  proud of myself that I actually ignored anything to do with work for an entire week.  Of course now I have about 5,000 emails to read and sort - fun fun.  Bad part is I really don't want to go back to work Monday.  I'm thinking this is a real sign that I need to start looking for a new job.  I use to enjoy my job in spite of the long hours.  Now I just look forward to the day being over and/or Friday being over.  Part of it is I know they really don't appreciate the work I do.  During political season - which for  me was from August until Nov 4th I put in on an average of 12 to 16 hours a day and the last 2 weeks before it was over I was working damn near 24/7 getting by on 3 or 4 hours sleep a night.   And then all I hear about is how wonderful the programmer was and the hours he put in.  Hours my butt.  I'd leave work at 6pm and sit in front of my computer waiting on the emails with the new scripts, I'd wait for the leads to come in and download them for the account manager no matter what time and where was the programmer who was needed to fix the leads before I could complete my work so I could go to bed?  He was out for the night and finally got home at 11pm.  So at 2am I go to bed and he calls me at 8am to let me know he was working on the leads.  So when it's time for the company to say how much they appreciated the work and hours we put in - he gets the same reward I got.

So the hole making 50 cents more an hour than the 7 people I manage, the not getting a raise in over 2 years, and making $25,000 less than the guy before me did.... Needless to say, I'm disappointed in the company and looking at brushing up my resume.

Rambling just so I have a post
So the whole point in getting a live journal account is so that you can read the stories the fan fiction writers are posting to live journal instead of email groups or archives.  But then they "friends" lock them, so fine, you make a comment on their journal and they add you so you can read.  Then it becomes, they don't want to add you unless you post to your journal.... Well I can see their point maybe - make sure it's not just someone looking to see what's going on in that community or journal so that they can report it or whine about it.  But it's getting harder and harder to actual read fan fic.  I see stories recommended on email groups I'm in only to find out they are in locked journals and unless I'm actively posting to my own journal I'm not welcome to read their fiction.  I'm not a writer, I'm just a reader.  Most days I'm at a loss as to what I could possible even say in a post to my own journal.  And I wonder why anyone would even be interested in reading what I might post.

So anyway, here's my 1st post and who knows I might actually post again sometime in the near future.
